On July 9, 2011, the residences of Berlin
celebrated the United States of America’s
Independence Day. The reason the Germans
celebrated the American Independence Day
on Saturday was because the 4th of July was
on Monday when most had to work.

planning the festivities are known as the
United States of America 6941st Guard
Battalion Association.

assistance in guarding the military installations
within West Berlin.
In September 1950, the U.S. Army organized
the 6901st Labor Service. In 1952 they change
the name and reorganized to 6941st Labor
Service. Then in 1969, The U.S. Army turned
the labor service in a military structure and their
mission too. They changed the name to 6941st
Guard Battalion. On September 30, 1993, the
6941st Guard Battalion had orders to stand down.

The 6941st Guard Battalion was made up of
Germans and NATO members. They all served
proudly. To this day they are very proud to had
served in the United States Army 6941st Guard
Battalion! Over ninety percent were Germans!

There was Country Western Music, Line Dancing,
Square Dancing and just dancing.

Sergeant First Class Lothar Kurzius and
Sergeant First Class René J. Tonn are Veterans of the
6941st Guard Battalion.

Lisa Marie Fischer is going on a five week tour in
the U.S.A. Her U.S.A Tour begins on July 14, 2011.
She going to Nashville, Tennessee on 18th of July,
for her first concert, then on to Minneapolis,
Minnesota. On the 19th of July, she will be together
with Sarah Pray and Thomas Kivi for five concerts in
Minnesota and Wisconsin. On the 25th of July she
goes to Burlington, Vermont for one week. In August
Marie and Kelly Raven has a Northeastern tour starting
in New York, Boston, and Vermont. Then she return
back to Germany.
